Claire Philbin

Insurance Broker
J Willey & Co

  • I have worked in and around financial services for a number of years, initially in recruitment, where I worked with financial planners and other professionals to place them with leading advice businesses. During this period, i quickly realised that I saw a future as an adviser myself, so I went out and studied for the Diploma for Financial Advisers, sometime revising for exams on the bus to work. Fast forward some years later and I am able to apply that same passion for helping people to an incredible rewarding career in Wealth Management.

I Feel that my approach is very people based in that I try to understand my clients’ motivations and goals in depth, as well as their background and understanding of their finances. This makes coming up with a financial plan much easier as I am able to tailor all of my work for them, to their specific circumstances. There is no “one size fits all”.

  • Claire’s career in the industry began more than 25 years ago as an Insurance advisor in a busy high street broker, training in personal lines insurance. She quickly progressed into supervisory roles, leading on to promotion to office manager in the Barnsley branch, where she gained invaluable knowledge of the Insurance sector.

Her dedication to the business, along with a strong relationship with the existing partners, saw Claire become a director in 2015. Along with fellow director Phil Ramsdale, Claire subsequently purchased the retiring partner’s side of the business.

Claire has continued to further her career in insurance by becoming Cert CII qualified, which has helped her to develop compliance within the business. She also oversees staff training, taking great pride in promoting team building and a focus on both new business opportunities and continuing to improve customer service.
